Fly Tying Class #2

January 21st is our second class of the 2012 fly tying classes.

This class will focus on:
  • Aquatic Macroinvertebrates (minor Trout foods), i.e.; midges, crane flies, scuds, etc.)
The flies that we concentrate on are simple Palmer-hackle flies:
  • Wooly Worm
  • Wooly Bugger
  • Dry Wooly (aka Crackleback)
  • Bivisible
  • Pea-cabou
The classes start at 9:30am and run until 12pm and are held at the Bedford County Conservation Offices across from the Bedford County Fairgrounds.

Fly Tying--January 14, 2012


Today marked the start of the 2012 Fly Tying Classes!

Fourteen guests tied today with the assistance of six members. Using a video setup, students followed the demonstrator tie the chosen pattern. Once the instruction was finished, students were able to try their hands at their own fly.

2012 FBTU Chapter Officers Elected

On January 3rd, members present at the Chapter Meeting elected Officers and a Board of Directors. Also present at the Chapter Meeting were Ken Undercoffer-President of PATU and Chuck Winters-Southwest PATU VP.

2012 FBTU Fly Tying Classes

January 14th marks the start of our Annual Fly Tying Classes offered to the public by members of FBTU.

This first class will focus on:
  • Intro to Tools and Materials
  • Terminology
  • Basic Techniques
  • Reading a Pattern Recipe
The flies that we will begin with are:
  • Green Weenie
  • San Juan Worm
  • Midge Larva
  • Sucker Spawn
The classes start at 9:30am and run until 12pm and are held at the Bedford County Conservation Offices across from the Bedford County Fairgrounds.
